It’s that time of year again when the Super 6s Indoor Hockey Finals tickets have gone on sale. As in previous years, if there’s enough interest, we as a club will order some tickets and you can buy them from us so we can make it a club social event! Please note the change from Wembley Arena to the Copperbox Arena on the Olympic Park.
If you’d like to join us (there were 35 of us last year!) please complete the doodle poll linked in the club email to show your interest. Please add a comment or create multiple entries if you’d like multiple tickets for under 18s (£13) or over 18s (£29).

Presentation evening is confirmed for Saturday 25th March 2017 from 7pm in the function room at De Hav (where we have teas) – a little bit earlier this year due to availability of De Hav but being after the final league game for most, this is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the end of the season and socialise with your team and the wider club.
This is not just for the adults, everyone who plays in the ladies/mens teams are welcome, the more the merrier! We normally have a teenager table so you don’t have to sit with us more ‘mature’ people if you don’t want to.
There will be a raffle on the night for which we are looking for prizes, please bring any donations to training or matches and hand to your captains. Current prizes include tickets to the Men’s Hockey League and branded WGCHC clothing.
Hope to see you all there with your glad rags on, celebrating the end of the season and dancing to the live band.
On Sunday 11th September, Welwyn Garden City hosted their start of season Funday, as part of England Hockey’s HockeyFest initiative.
The day started with around 50 juniors receiving coaching from our newly trained coaches and Duke of Edinburgh volunteers from our senior club. The children, between 6-14, played games such as rollerball, had an introduction to passing, progressed to advanced stick skills and ended with the much anticipated shooting practise, the juniors were treated to an hour of intense but fun coaching. This was followed by small sided games for the under 10’s, under 12’s and under 14’s, where they put their new skills to use! At the end of the session, each child received a goodie bag, with branded WGCHC merchandise and exciting treats!
It was great to see so many returning members, as well as 10 new players- capitalising on the increase in publicity for Hockey after the GB Ladies Olympic Gold medal. Junior training begins at 10am on Sunday 18th September.
With over 70 Senior members for the afternoon’s Old and Bold tournament, WGCHC saw new players and old faces competing for bragging rights and the trophy! Seven teams competed in a round robin tournament, with eventual winners being team ‘3 quarters’. Throughout the afternoon, we had OPRO mouthguards, ProShop hockey merchandise and Tyler’s WGCHC branded clothing alongside tombola, a bake off, guess the name of the teddy and raffle. The day was a great family environment in great weather, well organised by the WGCHC Funday team! We hope to see more members getting in touch or coming along to training to capitalise on the GB Ladies success!
