Tony Goodburn

The Club sadly reports the passing away of Tony Goodburn, last Friday. He was admitted in to hospital over the August Bank Holiday, and sadly marked his 90th Birthday there, in view of the virus, alone. As some of our older members will have known, Tony had not been in good health for a number of years, during which he was well cared for by his wife, Anne, to whom we pass on our condolences.

Tony was a past President of the Club, 1998 until 2005. He was also, quietly, a generous benefactor of the Club.

Always sociable, his great active contribution as a Member was Umpiring, and then in the old Clubhouse at KGV afterwards: he liked a drink. Initially he was not just an East umpire, but also held senior roles in the ERHUA. For many years, after officiating at a higher level, he devoted himself to club umpiring roles, actively supporting those of us who have followed, until his health and fitness began to seriously decline.
