Times:
For the upcoming season, we will be extending our pitch time! The new session time will be 10am – 11:30am. During these sessions, children will be in u10, u12 and u14 groups and coaches will be warming up, developing skills and enabling game play for both on field and goalkeepers.
Our session dates for the 16-17 Season are from September- March are:
· Sunday 11th September – Sunday 16th October (inclusive) 6 weeks
o No sessions on Sunday 22nd October and Sunday 29th October (half term)
· Sunday 6th November – Sunday 18th December (inclusive) 7 weeks
o No sessions on Sunday 25th December or 1st January (Christmas holiday)
· Sunday 8th January – Sunday 5th February (inclusive) 5 weeks
o No sessions on Sunday 12th and Sunday 19th February (half term)
· Sunday 26th February – Sunday 26th March (inclusive) 5 weeks
Membership:
Due to the extended pitch time, increased pitch costs and after keeping our prices low for a number of seasons, the yearly membership fee this year will be £45 per child. This includes a pair of WGCHC logo’d white socks for each paid up member.
These wanting to pay weekly, the fee will remain at £3 per session. Each match played in the Herts League is charged at £3 for both yearly and weekly members.
Please complete a membership form prior to your first session with us, if possible, as this ensures we have all the details necessary for your child.
Games:
The Herts League fixture dates for the 16-17 season (all held on Sundays) are outlined below. When there is a Herts League fixture, there will be no Sunday training session due to hosting these sessions and all members being selected. Games incur a £3 charge (from both yearly and weekly payees)
· Autumn Dates- 25th September, 9th October, 13th November, 27th November
· Spring Dates- 22nd January, 5th February, 26th February
· Herts In2Hockey Tournament TBC
Social:
Each season, we begin with a Funday as our first session, which is a relaxed introduction back for members and new faces. This year, we are holding the Funday on Sunday 11th September from 10am -12:30pm. This will include age group coaching (u10, u12 and u14), games and competitions. The whole family is welcome to come down as there are also refreshments, tombolas, raffles and hockey merchandise.
A traditional Parents vs. Kids game is held on the last coaching session of each term (18th December and 26th March) in which parents are invited to join in a game!
We hold a Christmas social in the afternoon our final Sunday session before Christmas and our season culminates in our end of season Junior Presentation Evening in March.
Kit:
Welwyn play in royal blue shirts, blue skirts/skorts/shorts and white socks. This season, we are providing all yearly members with logo’d white socks and offering these to all other members for £5. We have a selection of Welwyn Wasps shirts available to borrow for games or you can buy your own at our Funday / through Tylers Sportswear.
We also require members to wear a mouth guard and shin pads for safety reasons.
